According to a recent article at Realtor.com, the Dallas housing market is among the top 10 ‘hot’ housing markets to watch in 2015! Last year was the strongest year in terms of economic recovery in the U.S. since the market collapsed in 2008. Because of this, 2015 is expected to be a great year in certain markets where experts expect to see fast-paced sales, affordable prices, and solid housing growth – and Dallas is one of those markets.
Which other U.S. cities made the top 10 list? In addition to Dallas, Houston is another Texas city to watch this year. Atlanta, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Jose, Washington DC, Minneapolis, and Des Moines also made the list.
Dallas was chosen a favorite on the list for the volume of home sales and the household growth, according to Jonathan Smoke, Realtor.com Chief Economist. Smoke says that although Dallas is home to 20 billionaires, it has been a top performer in the housing market and remains one of the best this year – and not because of big money. Dallas continues to be an attractive area for new households and career professionals, and employment opportunities have never been better. In fact, Dallas is on pace to set a new employment record for last year!
We know that when it comes to Texas, everything is “bigger.” This includes massive new homes that are springing up all over our Southern city. The construction of new homes in Dallas is strong, which means supply vs. demand issues will hopefully be lessened in 2015. Smoke expects that home sales in Dallas will increase by about 7% this year, while prices will rise about 3%.
