Choosing An Agent When Selling Your Dallas Home: What To Look For

When you’re thinking of selling your Dallas home, choosing the right real estate agent makes all the difference. While you may believe all realtors are the same, nothing could be further from the truth! There are certain factors to consider, including honesty, ethics, the advertising techniques your agent uses, how familiar he or she is with the area where you live, and more.

Does the agent have a plan of action? Before signing anything, make sure your agent has a specific plan for selling your home, including a written marketing and pricing strategy.

Look for:

An agent who thoroughly understands how to implement a personalized advertising and marketing campaign. It’s important to have an agent who knows how to use unique methods to advertise your home, instead of taking a “one size fits all” approach. Ask your agent how he or she intends to market your home, and why. It’s your home, so it’s your business to know how your agent intends to attract the most qualified buyers!

Make sure your Dallas-Ft. Worth real estate agent is honest and has integrity. Does the agent have your best interests at heart, or is he/she simply out to make the sale, collect commissions, and call it a day? A realtor who is passionate about the industry and reaching the desired outcome of the client is completely honest – even when it may not be what you want to hear.

Thorough knowledge of the geographical area. The agent you choose to list your home should be extremely familiar with the area. What difference does it make? In working with potential buyers, your agent will be able to describe the quality of the schools in the area, where the best shopping and entertainment is, the atmosphere/security of the community, and more. It’s impossible for an agent to recommend a home to a potential buyer when he/she has no knowledge or sense of the surroundings, what similar homes are worth, etc.

  • We had an exceptional experience with the Nelson Team. First of all, we are NOT related. The perfect opportunity unexpectedly presented itself in Grand Prairie. There was a beautiful cul-de-sac lot backing up to the woods of Joe Pool Lake that we, and many others, wanted but the builder was not releasing it. Total serendipity that we were the first in the sales office the day the builder released the lot. Problem was we had a house in Hurst to sell. I called on Team Nelson who immediately did our listing, had an open house, and sold it within days for the price we wanted and needed. Everything fell into place perfectly. I’m still amazed.
