Two Dallas Suburbs Among Top 10 Happiest Cities In America For 2019

dallas suburbs

Our Dallas real estate agents know there’s no other place in the country people love more than the DFW metro area, but recently we ran across some exciting news! Two Dallas suburbs have landed among the top 10 happiest cities in America according to a new WalletHub report – and we’re happy to reveal Plano took the No. 1 spot. We’ll tell you which other city came in at No. 7 a little later in this article!

So how did WalletHub arrive at these results? According to reports, the personal finance website based their findings after reviewing more than 30 “key indicators of happiness” such as emotional health, depression rate, job satisfaction, unemployment rate, divorce rate, average daily leisure time, strength of social ties, income growth rate and more. WalletHub reviewed these metrics in over 180 U.S. cities.

How did Plano land top spot? For one, the separation and divorce rate is the fourth lowest in the U.S. Happy wife, happy life? Maybe so! The city also ranked sixth in employment and income, seventh in overall well-being (emotional and physical), and eighth in environment and community. The top three cities in America with lower separation and divorce rates than Plano include Fremont, CA, Irvine, CA and Gilbert, AZ.

Now for the other DFW city coming in at No. 7 – Grand Prairie! The WalletHub report says that how bright or gloomy our days are has a lot to do with location. It went on to say that researchers have studied the science of happiness for years and have come to the conclusion that the key ingredients for happiness include strong social connections, a positive mental state, job satisfaction, a healthy body, and financial well-being. Researchers also found that money can’t buy happiness; for instance, if your annual income is $75,000 you won’t be any happier or more satisfied with more money.

Which other cities are among the top 10 happiest cities in the U.S.? Irvine, CA, Madison, WI, Fremont, CA, Huntington Beach, CA, Fargo, ND, San Jose, CA, Scottsdale, AZ and San Francisco, CA. Those at the bottom of the list (perhaps not too happy?) included Cleveland, OH, Birmingham, AL, Charleston, WV, Toledo, OH and Detroit, MI.
