Recently, more than 500 cities in the U.S. were analyzed by San Francisco-based Apartment List to determine which were the best for young families. Our Dallas real estate agents weren’t surprised to learn that two cities in the DFW area made the top 10! Flower Mound came in at No. 4, while Mansfield placed 9th on the list.
According to reports, Flower Mound was given a score of 92.76, which is an A+ rating. Mansfield scored 89.54, an A rating. Some of the factors used to determine which U.S. cities were the best for young families included education quality, safety, rent affordability, and how child-friendly the cities were.
Two other Texas cities made it in the top 10, including League City and Cedar Park, near Houston and Austin respectively. While the largest cities in Texas did not rank quite as well, Apartment List came up with another list ranking the 50 largest cities in the U.S. for families who desire to live in an urban area. On that list, Dallas ranked well at No. 5 and Fort Worth ranked No. 8. Not bad out of 50 largest cities in the country! Austin also made the top 10 on this list along with El Paso, which ranked No. 2.
In ranking the best cities for young families for 2019, Apartment List weighted the four factors used to determine the results. Housing affordability was given a weight of 30%, safety 35%, education quality 25%, and child friendliness 10%. Data was gathered from the FBI, Census data, Dept. of Education and other reliable sources. What city came in No. 1 on the best cities for young families list? Fishers, Indiana.
