DFW Real Estate – Think An All-White Kitchen Is Boring?

dfw real estate

White cabinets, white countertops, white walls – think it’s a bit too much (or even a bit too little, in terms of color)? As experienced real estate professionals, we know one thing: All shades of white are not the same, and it’s easy to add a little spice and “oomph” to this much-used space.

White is popular for several reasons – it looks clean, bright, and fresh. However, it can easily become boring if you don’t take steps to jazz things up a little. Here’s how.

Use varying shades of white. If you’ve ever purchase white window blinds or paint, you know not every white is the same. Some are bright, others may have a cream or eggshell tone, others just a hint of grey. Mix it up by using three or four shades of white. For instance, super-white cabinets look great against a cool, grey-toned white paint for walls!

To avoid the sterile look of a hospital, add lots of texture with dish towels, window coverings, rugs, even light shades or fixtures and a backsplash. Plaid, striped, and herringbone pattern rugs are great for adding texture and a splash of color.

Let those beautiful exposed wood beams offer relief, while highlighting the amazing architecture! Gleaming wood is a stark contrast to white – perfect for setting it off.

Sometimes it’s the little things that can transform a white kitchen from bland to amazing. Hardware for drawers and cabinet doors made of bronze or nickel add a rustic appeal, while mirrored trays and crystal bowls and vases add an elegant touch.

When it comes to a white kitchen, there are lots of ways to mix things up and make it the most amazing room in your home! A colorful bowl of fruit on the countertop or a tall clear vase brimming with wildflowers or interesting sticks/pine cones and other elements of nature, depending on the season, can really make your kitchen pop. Use your imagination!

While the white kitchen is hot, it’s not for every homeowner. At Team Nelson, if there’s one thing we know, it’s that every homebuyer’s idea of what’s appealing and what’s not is different. If you’re in search of a home in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metro area, let our DFW real estate agents help you find the perfect fit for you and your family!
