Flower Mound Realtors – 5 Kitchen Organization Tips

If you are in the market to buy a new Flower Mound or Dallas area home or have just bought your new dream home, it’s exciting to organize your spaces. For most homeowners, the kitchen is one of the most-used rooms in the house, and one you will probably want to organize first.

Here are a few tips from our Flower Mound real estate agents for making your kitchen a highly functional – and beautiful – space:

De-clutter counters. The one thing that can detract most from a beautiful kitchen is clutter on counter tops. Store small appliances under the cabinet, especially those you use only on occasion.

Design a “cooking zone.” When you’re ready to prepare a meal, you can cut down on the number of trips you make back and forth by storing everything within close reach. For instance, store pots and pans in a cabinet immediately next to the stove/range, and keep essentials such as spoons, tongs, and spatulas hanging nearby, or in a drawer within reach.

Items on display. Have glass-front cabinets, open shelves, or open spaces above top cabinets? Use these areas to show off your fine china, antique dinnerware you’ve collected over the years, or other favorites. It’s also a good idea on open shelves to keep the look uncluttered by storing those things you use in rattan baskets.

Install organizers. Nothing is more frustrating than looking for a fork or specific spice and not being able to find it without removing everything in the drawer or cabinet! Use drawer organizers to keep silverware tidy and separated; consider a lazy Susan for spices, small jars, and other containers that can get “lost” in the crowd.

A place for everything, and everything in its place. When unpacking your dishes, cookware, and other utensils, think about which ones you use most, and store them on the lower, easier to reach shelves. Store bakeware in its own spot, keep storage containers used for leftovers together in one spot. This will make it easy to find anything you’re looking for!
