Get Your Dallas Home Ready To Sell With These Tips

It’s no secret there are things you can do to win over potential buyers when trying to sell your Dallas home, and that sometimes the small things do make all the difference. Anyone who is serious about selling should know that sticking a “For Sale” sign in the yard isn’t enough. How can you make the best possible impression on prospective buyers and sell your home quicker? Our Dallas real estate professionals have a few tips.

Clear the clutter and do some deep cleaning. It’s impossible for buyers to picture their own families in your home when it’s filled with family photos, the kids’ artwork on the fridge, magazines, trinkets and all of the other “stuff” you accumulate over the years. Decluttering first will make it easier when you get to the deep cleaning stage. Put away family mementos and get rid of things that aren’t necessary or of any value. If it can’t be thrown away, donate it, have a yard sale, or offer it for free on Facebook, Craigslist or other sites. Once you have a clean slate to work with you can steam clean the carpet, scrub down the bathrooms, clean windows and straighten up/clean out all of your closets, cabinets and other storage areas.

Take care of small DIY projects. From repairing grout to replacing torn window screens and painting the walls, there is a lot you can do to make your home more appealing to buyers. Replace any worn or crumbling caulk, fix that leaky faucet you’ve been putting off. These are the small things we were referring to earlier!

Amp up the curb appeal. This is the first impression a buyer will get of your home, so it’s highly important to make it as appealing as possible. Power wash the patio, deck, siding, walkway, driveway, anything that needs a good deep cleaning. Edge the lawn and trim the hedges. Remove any weeds in flower beds, repair any broken gutters, put new mulch or rock in your plant beds if needed. Clean up the kids’ toys or other items you may have scattered around the yard.

It really isn’t all that much work, but the rewards will be well worth the time and effort you put into sprucing up your home before you list it. Sometimes the first impression is the only one you get to make, so make sure it’s a great one!
