Moving To Dallas – A Few Fun Facts You May Not Know

moving to dallas

Nearly everyone knows Dallas is one of the most popular destinations of those looking to buy a home. It’s big (like everything in Texas), it’s fun and exciting, maybe even a bit glamorous. If you’re moving to Dallas due to a job relocation or “just because,” you’ll find some of the things we’re sharing below fun, interesting, maybe even useful.

If food is your passion, you will see that “Eatin’ good in the neighborhood” is no joke in the Big D. One interesting fact: Dallas offers up more restaurants per capita than New York! From giant steaks and barbecue to Tex-Mex and more, indulge your taste buds – that is, if you can choose where you want to eat.

It’s a cultural melting pot. No matter what your religious practices, faith, beliefs, or activity preferences, you will find that Dallas is a city where everyone is embraced whether Christian, Muslim, Jewish, African-American, Latino, or Asian. Everyone belongs!

You can live among 7 million residents without feeling like a canned sardine. The DFW metro area comprises a population of over 7 million people, although Dallas is just one of the cities that make up the metro. That said, you won’t feel like you’re living on top of your neighbors as you would in some of the more congested cities, as Dallas is spread out over more than 340 square miles.

You’ll never be bored. Sports fanatics will LOVE Dallas and the Cowboys, Rangers, Stars, Mavericks, etc. Then there is the Mesquite Rodeo, the state fair, Six Flags, and annual events including Dallas Autorama, Denton Arts and Jazz Festival, Arbor Daze, Taste of Dallas, Haunted Orchestra, Greek Festival of Texas, Trains at the North Park – the opportunities are endless.

Did you know that nearly a quarter of the 100 wealthiest people in America live in Dallas, or that this is the city where the first 7-11 opened? We also have the tallest cowboy in the state, 52-foot tall Big Tex who you’ll no doubt see if you go to the state fair.

There is a lot to love about Dallas, and this is just the tip of the iceberg!
