Certainly we’re not saying you have to wait until spring to sell your Flower Mound or Denton home, but the fact is real estate flourishes in the spring for both sellers and buyers. Whether you are a seller or potential buyer, the months of April, May, and June are when things really start hopping! If your home has been on the market for a substantial length of time, consider taking it off for a bit prior to spring. Buyers tend to gravitate toward new listings, and may wonder if there is an issue with your home if it’s been on the market for a while.

Hopefully if you’re selling your Dallas home now you’ll have good luck. Some people enjoy buying a new home prior to Thanksgiving and Christmas, then decorating it up for family members and friends to enjoy! However, if you do wait until spring comes, here are a few tips that will help your home stand out among the flood of homes that will be on the market:

Tend to the yard. Whether it’s raking up leaves, trimming the hedges, edging, or planting spring/summer flowers bursting with color, curb appeal IS a very big deal. A well-manicured lawn will let those driving by know your home is well-cared for and properly maintained, important to potential buyers.

Polish the mirrors, clean the blinds and windows. Sure, it’s important to vacuum, dust, clean the kitchen and bathrooms, and all of those ordinary cleaning chores you do on a regular basis. What makes potential buyers really take notice is a home that sparkles! Spotless mirrors, windows, and blinds create the sparkle that sells homes.

Clean carpets and polish the floors. Nothing is more beautiful than warm, glowing wood floors. Clean carpets are important too, especially if light in color. If your hardwood floors need refinishing, do it. If not, polish until they gleam. Have your rugs and carpets cleaned by a professional for the best results.

Bring nature indoors! Place fresh flowers in the dining room, living room, or any area where you want a bright splash of color and natural scent. This tends to be easier on potential buyers who may be allergic to scented sprays, candles, or other products designed to freshen the air in your home.
