Regardless of whether you have a “green thumb,” turning up the curb appeal will definitely make selling your North Texas home easier! People love beautiful lawns and landscapes; after all, it’s the exterior appearance that they see first! Ignoring your yard or doing nothing more than mowing will slow the progress of selling your home. If you aren’t especially prolific in the gardening or landscaping department, not to worry. Our Flower Mound real estate agents have a few suggestions for amping up the curb appeal that are easy, and take very little time.
Add flower beds for color in dull areas. Edging an area with landscaping brick or stone, adding some bark and a few annuals or perennials is easy and fairly inexpensive. Consider adding color along a walkway or bare area around the front entranceway for vibrant, beautiful color.
Make sure the yard is neat – and green. An untrimmed appearance, bare spots, or sprawling weeds can really detract from the beauty of your home. Having a lush, green lawn is easy; fertilize and water every six weeks! If your lawn is bare in spots or just looks ragged, consider investing in sod. It’s more affordable than most people think, and the transformation is incredible. You can also plant grass seed, just ask someone in the lawn and garden center which would be best for your conditions (type of soil, sun/shade ratio, etc.)
Plant a tree. Trees add depth and dimension to a landscape – not to mention a little well-placed shade can help save on energy costs. Did you know that trees that are mature add value to your property? In fact, while it’s difficult to determine exactly how much mature trees can add to its value, it is believed they may contribute up to 10%!
There are other things you can do to step up the curb appeal on your Dallas-area home, such as adding landscape lighting or a fresh coat of paint. Ultimately, you want your outdoor spaces to be as attractive and inviting as your indoor spaces.
