Dallas Real Estate – Spring’s Coming & Home Sales Will Increase

Spring DFW Real Estate

Springtime is when home sales start gaining momentum; it continues throughout the summer months, when sales peak usually just before it’s time for school to start. If you’re thinking about putting your Dallas-area home on the market soon, it’s important to prepare so that your home will sell quickly and bring top dollar.

The thing is, your home is where you live; it’s where your family is comfortable and enjoys relaxing and sharing the events of the day. While you love it, a potential buyer will be viewing your home through a different pair of eyes, so you need to pay attention and try to view your home as others would see it.

Here are a few tips for making sure your home will be its most attractive and appealing to potential buyers:

In the bedroom, make sure the bed is neatly made, personal items stored out of sight, and closets are neat and organized. Any items or furniture that make it appear smaller or overcrowded should be stored. You may want to consider hanging a few mirrors to add a spacious feel.

The bathroom is one of the most important areas in buyers’ eyes. Make sure yours is clean and in good repair. Store items you normally keep on top of your vanity, repair or replace dripping faucets or a loose toilet lid/seat. Keep it clutter-free, and try to create a relaxed ambiance using candles, flowers, and plush towels. Be sure it smells nice!

The foyer is the first impression a potential buyer will get of your home. Polish the baseboards, check the condition of the interior/exterior of the entrance door, shine mirrors, dust furnishings, give wood or tile floors a good shine. Move shoes, coats, umbrellas, and other outerwear that tends to accumulate in the foyer.

In the backyard, clean outdoor furnishings and fireplaces; give the barbecue a good cleaning as well. Make sure you put away pool toys and store rakes, shovels, the lawnmower, and other outdoor tools and equipment out of sight. Clear your yard of leaves and make sure the fence is in good repair.

Your entire house should be neat, clean, and free of clutter. Complete any paint or repair jobs you’ve been putting off, shampoo carpets if they’re stained, make it look as good as new!

At Team Nelson, our Dallas real estate agents know the importance of making a good impression on potential buyers. For more tips to get your house in tip-top shape before the spring buying season arrives, give us a call!
